The Global Crisis Corner

I recently spent a weekend with friends in a lovely town in the Eastern part of Germany.

Its castle, its town hall, and other medieval buildings had been beautifully renovated.

But several shops in the pedestrian zone were having liquidation sales, with few shoppers in sight.

Around the corner, we found this reminder of the truly global nature of the economic crisis we’re in.
